One of the most overlooked parts of the home is
the heating and cooling ductwork. Out of sight, but always working
for you, the home ductwork usually contains as much space as an average
size room. When was the last time this "room" was
cleaned? The heating and cooling ductwork is a perfect breeding
ground for germs and bacteria. Health experts now believe that
approximately one in six people who suffer from allergies do so as a
direct result of fungi and bacteria in the air duct system. Other
diseases, such as Legionnaire's and hypersensitivity pneumonitis have
also been traced to germs in the air duct system.
Health considerations aside, there are other good
reasons to have your air ducts cleaned. Dust and dirt in the
heating/cooling system are a primary cause of system break-down.
Proper cleaning helps eliminate breakdowns and unscheduled service
calls. A clean system is also more efficient; proper cleaning of
the air duct system can reduce heating/cooling costs by 10-20%.
So, as you can see, furnace and air duct cleaning
cures "sick homes" and makes the system last longer and
conserve energy. Consider having your air ducts cleaned
today. We recommend cleaning every two years, or annually for
homes with allergy patients. Give us a call today for the finest
quality air duct cleaning available. You'll be glad you did.
Here's what we do for you! Our
technician will do a walk-through inspection with you to locate all
supply and return vent openings. Each vent is removed to gain
access to the branch line. A 25-horsepower truck mounted vacuum
system is used to remove large debris from each line. Over the
years, we have removed some very unusual items such as a Magic 8 Ball
fortune telling toy, a Dr. Pepper can from 1969, golf balls, a 357
revolver, clothing, and baby bottles to name a few. Once the large
debris has been removed, we then attach a specialized nylon brush
designed to scrape dust and other debris that has attached itself to the
sidewalls of your ducts. This allows our high powered vacuum
system to remove contaminants at the point of contact, (unlike other
systems that try to push all the debris to one access location).
Once all of the branches are thoroughly cleaned, the vent covers are
then dusted and reattached to the wall or floor. The procedure is
then repeated in the trunk lines. After cleaning the duct work, we
can apply a sealant that will seal any small gaps in the seams, and it
will also sanitize and deodorize your system.
